Knowing when you aren't any good

To produce a fully fledged app for many platforms requires all sorts of icons and splash screen. The problem here is that I don't have any artistic talent whatsoever. Tried a couple of approaches that haven't yeilded anybody that can help me out, so I've made a lash-up splash screen and icon for version 1 of the app; that will have to do.
I managed to produce an icon by (bizzarely) programming it in a 3D drawing program. However, that won't cut it for the splash screen.
And the amusing thing it that the splash screen is visible for about half-a-second, but it's needed to get app approval. Ho hum.
And then you find that the Kindle Fire needs a different sort of icon......
I feel I must correct an earlier statement

Earlier I said that the first 90% of a project takes 90% of the time and the last 10% takes 90% of the time. I must correct this axiom and state that the first 90% of a project takes 90% of the time, the last 10% takes 90% of the time and the documentation takes 300% of the time...
